What we collect — and what we don’t

No account, no sign-in

screenmytrade has no user accounts. You don’t register or log in, and we don’t build a profile for you. The score a stock returns is the same for everyone.

Your saved watchlist stays on your device

Your watchlist is saved in your own browser, not on our servers or in any account. Clearing your browser data removes it. When you follow or unfollow a stock, we record the ticker and where you did it. When you open the watchlist page, we record how many stocks are on your list. These events show us which features bring people back.

Feedback you choose to send

If you use the feedback panel, we store what you type, the page you sent it from, and — only if you add it — your email address, so we can reply. Leave the email blank and your note stays anonymous. Please don’t include anything sensitive.

We send that feedback to Google Sheets, where it’s stored. Google only holds it for us; it doesn’t use it. We use it only to read your feedback and reply. We don’t share it, and we delete entries once they’re no longer useful. Under UK/EU data law our legal basis for this is legitimate interest: improving the site and replying to you. You can ask us to delete yours at any time — email [email protected].

Usage analytics

To understand how the site is used and grow it, we record events such as searches, stock-page views, filters, lessons, shares, and watchlist actions:

• No cookies and no advertising or cross-site tracking.
• No persistent identifier — events can’t be tied back to you or linked into a profile across visits.
• We give each visit a random temporary ID so we can see the steps within one visit — for example, that a search led to a stock view. Your browser holds it in session storage only while the tab is open, and discards it when you close the tab. It is never a cookie.
• To count how many visitors are new vs. returning, your browser stores only the date you first visited (e.g. “2026-07-16”) — not a random value, not unique to you, and identical for everyone who first arrived that day. Each event then carries a yes/no “returning visitor” flag and a rough range for how long ago you first visited (within 1, 7, 30, or 90 days).
• When a search has no match, we store up to the first 24 characters of the query, plus its length, so we can measure demand for missing tickers, funds, and markets. Don’t type personal information into search.
• If a request looks like a bot or an attempt to find our raw data feed, we may log the page it asked for, a rough client type (e.g. browser vs. script), and a shortened version of the browser ID string it sent.
• We honour your browser’s “Do Not Track” setting in our analytics collector. The bot and agent logging above applies regardless, since those requests don’t come from a browser.
• We collect these events using Cloudflare Web Analytics and our own database. We do not read or store IP addresses in our event collector.

Hosting

The site is served by Cloudflare, which processes standard request data (such as IP address) to deliver pages and protect against abuse. The stock data itself is public end-of-day market data, recomputed daily.
